effects of this years mild winter and warmer than average spring are already

becoming evident as many rangelands are in poor condition, as some

producers are already beginning to liquidate cattle due to limited grass. 

Trade was active with good buyer demand.  The supply was comprised

of 52% feeder cattle, 30 % slaughter cows , 1% slaugher bulls, and the remainder

replacement cattle.

SHEEP AND LAMB AUCTION

STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING

Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs mostly steady. There were not

enough feeder lambs for an adequate market test. Slaughter ewes mostly

10.00 – 12.00. Slaughter bucks 3.00 – 4.00 lower. Kid and nannies/doe

goats mostly steady. Billies and wethers no price trend available due to

limited comparable sales. Trading activity was moderate with moderate

to good demand. In the sheep supply about 70% slaughter ewes and bucks,

26% slaughter lambs and 4% feeder lambs. The goat supply consisted of 75%

kids, 10% nannies and the balance billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs

sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise

noted.

Compared to last week:  Slaughter cows and bulls 1.00 to 2.00 higher, with a larger percentage of higher quality types on offer this week.  Not enough feeders for an adequate market trend.  Demand good with moderate to active trading activity.  The supply was comprised of 30% feeder cattle, 60% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, and the remainder replacement cattle.
